Self-storage facility now open for business

Have extra stuff lying around you don’t want to part with but don’t want cluttering up your house? The solution to your priceless clutter is now available just around the corner. The Plumas Lake Self Storage opened this month on Plumas-Arboga Road.

Brent Hastey and his family have turned some of their property into a self-storage facility that allows him to walk to work.

“I have been a business owner for many years and could see that with the growth of Plumas Lake, that a business out here was needed and a self-storage with RV and boat storage was a service that would be perfect,” he said.

The business, which cost the Hastey family more than $2 million to get up and running, hosts rows of metal storage units, RV and boat storage and U-Haul rentals. The office also sells moving boxes and supplies during the business hours, which are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday  8 a.m  to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The units range in size from a 5 by 5 foot space to a 12 by 30 and range in average monthly price from $37 to $184. The facility offers 24-hour surveillance, computerized gates and individual door alarms to ensure the protection of the customers’ items.

Hastey encourages interested customers to come by the facility to see the units so they know that what they are paying for is what they need.

The company was many, many months in the making and while Hastey says it was a challenge working to get the county permitting process complete, the individuals that assisted him in getting his financing at Feather River Bank did a great job. All his hard work paid off though with 14 new customers on the day they first opened their doors.

Plumas Lake Self Storage is continuing to improve and expects to have their automated 24/7 renting capabilities up and running on their Web site by Aug. 1. This will allow customers to rent a space or pay for a space they have already rented without having to drive to the facility.

In addition, the company is running some grand opening specials which include the first month’s rent free and also 10 percent off the rental price if using the new automated payment system once it is in place.
