School board asking for parent input

The Plumas Lake Elementary School board is reaching out to parents and encouraging their input on the district’s budget.

For the past three months a group of parents, teachers, staff and community representatives has been meeting to discuss options for the school to take in anticipation of another cut to the district’s annual budget.

The board sought the input of a wide variety of individuals in order to ensure the decisions it makes to decrease costs and increase revenue would be the best choices for students, teachers and the schools. Throughout the past few months the committee has determined several items that would help to balance the district’s budget and have put together a survey that has been sent out to parents and staff soliciting their input.

Parents should have received the information last Friday, and the board and district are urging parents to respond to the survey. In addition, the district will be holding a forum on at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Rio Del Oro’s multipurpose room for individuals to come and ask questions about the survey or any component of the proposed ideas and options.

For more information on the forum and the budget survey, visit the district’s Web site at www.plusd.org.
