Business Briefs: Caltrans holding workshop on contracts

Caltrans is offering a workshop for agencies that determine contract goals for underutilized business enterprises on federally funded projects.

The free workshop is slated from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Caltrans District 3 headquarters, Sierra Nevada Room, 703 B St., Marysville.

Annual Rice Growers Meeting on Monday

The 2012 Annual Rice Growers Meeting is slated Monday at Veterans Hall, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle, Yuba City.

Activities start at 8:30 a.m., with doors opening at 8 a.m.

Umpqua Bank on "100 Best Companies to Work For" list

Umpqua Bank, with branches in California, Oregon and northern Nevada, was ranked 69th on Fortune magazine's 15th annual list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For."

This is the bank's sixth straight year on the list.

The bank has several offices in the Mid-Valley including in Yuba City, Marysville, Wheatland and Colusa.

A full list of the top 100 companies is in the Feb. 6 print edition of Fortune.

 

Garamendi will speak at jobs and economy forum

Local leaders from labor, business, economics and education are taking part in a community meeting on jobs and the economy, sponsored by the Yuba-Sutter Democratic Club.

The program includes speaker David Gallo with an "Outlook for the Yuba-Sutter Economy" and Rep. John Garamendi.

The free event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, with doors open at 12:30 p.m., at the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council, 630 E St., Marysville.

Rheem joins Sutter North

Dr. Dae S. Rheem, specializing in gastroenterology and internal medicine, has joined Sutter North Medical Group.

He received his medical degree from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and completed his fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda.

Rheem also worked as an instructor and associate professor at Yonsei University and as assistant professor at Drew University.
