Quit smoking class to begin
Classes in the "Clean Break" program, to help participants quit smoking or chewing tobacco, are set Sept. 6, 7, 12 and 14 at Fremont-Rideout Cardiac Rehabilitation, 401 I St., Marysville.
The free program's four classes are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Parking is available at the corner of Fifth and H streets.

PT office earns gold award
Yuba City Physical Therapy was recognized for its commitment to quality, efficient operations and patient satisfaction by PTPN, the nation's premier network of rehabilitation therapists in independent practice.
The local professional corporation received the PTPN Gold Practice Award for the first half of 2011.
Less than 20 percent of PTPN members receive the award the period, according to a press release.
In selecting the award winner, the national organization reviews members' participation in its quality assurance, outcomes, credentialing and data transfer programs.

Locals train for healthy area
Several members of the Yuba City community recently learned about strategies to create a healthy community by participating in national technical assistance training in Baltimore.
The local residents are part of the national Action Communities for Health, Innovation and EnVironmental ChangE, a partnership between local communities and national organizations to create healthier places to live, work, learn and play.
Yuba City residents attending were Brad McIntire of Yuba City Parks and Recreation; Michele Blake, Sutter County Health Department; Jim Whiteaker, Sutter County supervisor; Rob Landon, Yuba City police chief; Steve Kroeger of the city of Yuba City; Julie Eckardt, Sutter Medical Foundation; Jennifer Schmall, Schmall Marketing; and Kevin Cotter, New Earth Market.
