Family Day provides fun in the sun
Plumas Lake residents showed their community support this month for second annual Plumas Lake Community Family Day. This year the event was held at the Olivehurst Community Park and was once again hosted by Calvary Christian Center, along with some very hard-working and supportive community members.
This year's event featured booths, food, music, games and activities for both kids and adults. And thanks to the new location this year, many families took advantage of the hot weather following the event to cool off at the Olivehurst community pool.
The attendees had their fill of hot dogs, potato salad and plenty of sweets for dessert. Once again Plumas Lake Bounce House donated a house for the kids to jump their hearts out, and for the adults there was the opportunity for a four-on-four basketball tournament. And when the bounce house was too full, the kids also had their opportunity to take their best aim at a piñata seeking the treasures inside.
The event also brought out several Yuba County representatives, including Supervisor Mary Jane Griego, eager to give the residents information on the county and its future. Representatives from the Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA) brought out maps and information on the progress of the levees.
The event was deemed a success with community members both thankful and looking forward to future years.
"Thank you to all — the family spent the afternoon there. Surprisingly, there were many people there we already knew, and we also met some new people," said Valerie Montalvo. "There was food, fun for the kids, good music, and we even swam in the pool for a couple of hours."
