Cook-off set to sizzle at park

As summer eventually makes its appearance here in the valley, Bayside of Plumas Lake is hoping to kick it off in real down-home style.

As part of its ongoing effort to raise funds for its future community center, the church has put together an afternoon at Eufay Woods Park that is sure to fill the appetites of even the hungriest individuals.

The air will be filled with the aroma of smoking and barbecued ribs as contestants compete in a true American style rib cook-off on Saturday, June 12. 

In addition to the mouth-watering ribs, participants can enjoy pulled-pork sandwiches or hot dogs for the littlest cowpokes. The food will be sold as part of the church’s fundraising efforts with adult plates including BBQ ribs or pulled-pork sandwich, salad, beans, roll and drink for $7.50. Kids’ plates will include a hot dog, beans, chips and a drink for $3.50.

While you enjoy a plate full of good food, residents can wander throughout the many vendor booths with local companies offering their goods and services. The barbequing will start as early as 6 a.m. for contestants with food served between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The rib cook-off judging will take place promptly at 1 p.m. with prizes going to the top three winners.

Bayside is still looking for more interested guys (or gals) who would like to participate in the cook-off and also any vendors interested in purchasing a booth for the event.

If you would prefer to just come for the afternoon but want to ensure you have your ticket for what is sure to be some wonderful food, you can also pre-purchase your meal coupons through Bayside.
