Plumas Lake man arrested on drug charges
A Plumas Lake man was arrested Saturday night and found to have more than $2,000 worth of methamphetamine and marijuana in his car, according to the Marysville Police Department.
Jonathan Andrew Cooper, 32, was driving near the 900 block of D Street at about 11 p.m. Saturday when a patrol officer noticed the Honda Cooper was driving had an expired registration and pulled him over.
Department spokesman John Osbourn said the officer discovered Cooper had a suspended driving privilege and saw Cooper throw a clear plastic bag with a white substance on the floor of the car. After a search, police discovered 31 grams of meth, worth about $2,000, and 11 grams of marijuana, worth about $300, Osbourn said.
Cooper was arrested on suspicion of transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a glass pipe found in the car, Osbourn said.
He was taken to Yuba County Jail, where he was being held Monday on $20,000 bail. His arraignment date was not yet available.
According to Appeal-Democrat archives, Cooper was arrested twice previously, both times in 2006. He was arrested on suspicion of transportation for sale of a controlled substance in August 2006 and on suspicion of grand theft in September of that year. How those cases were resolved was not immediately available.
