‘Book Buggy’ ready to roll

Yuba County Library coming to Plumas Lake on Wednesday
June 26, 2008 - 12:23PM

Plumas Lake Life Readers both young and old should to be on the lookout for Yuba County Library's "Book Buggy."

Yuba County's mobile library offers services to areas of the county, bringing books right into neighborhoods. Plumas Lake will be the  newest stop in what has been an established service in other parts of the county, including Linda, Olivehurst, Wheatland and Oregon House, for the past five years.

The mobile library - a converted 32-foot school bus - offers a variety of books for all ages, with a catalog of 3,000 titles. The buggy also  affords an intimate space for parents to read to their children.

The buggy will be in Plumas Lake 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Lenner Park, on the corner of Hidden Creek Way and Knights Ferry  Drive. The buggy travels a weekly route, stopping Mondays and Thursdays in Linda, Olivehurst on Mondays, Wheatland on Wednesdays, and Challenge and Oregon House on Tuesdays.

Individuals who need a library card can get one through the book buggy; residents need to bring ID shows a current mailing address.

Readers who might not want to go all the way into Marysville to get a particular book found in their full library can make a request for it through the book buggy. To request a particular book, patrons simply need to contact the main library in Marysville a few days prior and if the book is on hand at the library it will be placed on the bus to be delivered to Plumas Lake.

This service also works for patrons who need to return a book to the library; books can be given to the book buggy driver, Paul Brunette, who will return it to the main branch.

Having the mobile library is a fantastic way to allow parents and kids to explore reading more often without loading the kids in the car and  going to library. The library encourages residents to take advantage of this service.

For more information about the book buggy or to request a book, contact the Yuba County Library at 749-7380.
