Doughnuts and dads

Fathers get day at Rio Del Oro Elementary

June is a month that kicks off the summer with backyard barbecues and afternoons in the sun. It is also the month every year that family takes time to honor the guy who helped to shape their lives - Dad.

As part of a tribute to honor Plumas Lake dads, Rio Del Oro Elementary hosted "Donuts for Dad" at the beginning of the month. Hosted by the school's Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), the event invited dads to come before school started to enjoy some doughnuts, coffee or
hot chocolate with their kids.

"It is great when dads get to spend time with their kids at school," said parent Patrick Rubey.

The event attracted nearly 100 parents and kids throughout the morning. The PTO supplied all the doughnuts and drinks at no cost to the parents. This event was preceded by an event "Muffins for Mom" during May in celebration of Mother's Day.

Armed with a fresh cup of coffee and a doughnut Rubey said the event "was a great way to start the weekend and the workday. The PTO deserves a big thank you for all the hard work they put into it to make this event successful."

No, my service is the same.
