A growing Plumas Lake tradition was celebrated again Sunday in Plumas Lake, thanks to two very committed community groups.

The Plumas Lake Mom’s Group (PLMG) and the Bayside Church of Plumas Lake hosted the community Easter egg hunt, which took place for the first time in the late afternoon.

As it has in years past, the event began with the egg hunt and continued on the black top of Rio Del Oro School with several other events for families and children.

“The turnout was great and the event as a whole went well. From a participant's point of view, my family had a great time,” said Jill Wheaton, president, PLMG.

A few hundred of the community’s children showed up to hunt for Easter eggs, and the weather, which looked like it might rain on the festivities, held off just enough to make the afternoon a great one for all.

Children also had an opportunity to get their picture taken with the Easter bunny or bounce in a bounce house.

“I think everyone did a fantastic job getting the community together for a fun afternoon,” said Wheaton. “I am truly thankful to everyone who helped and to live in such a wonderful community.”

The event hosts didn’t leave any detail out and even provided food and drinks for children and parents alike tired from running to find all those eggs. The event continues to be a success year after year and something that families in the area have come to look forward to and enjoy.

“The Mom's Group always does a great job. The families had a lot of fun and we came away with a lot of great ideas of how to continue to grow the event and make it even better next year,” said Bayside pastor Randy Sherwood.
