Plumas Lake Life

• Name: Pam Irish

• Age: Almost 45

• Family: Richard (boyfriend), Ryan (boyfriend's son), Patrick (boyfriend's son living in Clovis)

• Occupation: Sixth-grade teacher

• Hobbies, interests: Scrapbook addict! (and Starbucks, of course!)

• Where do you get your news? Usually from the radio, but also from the Plumas Lake Life Forum

• What keeps you in the Plumas Lake area? We love the tranquility and the lack of hustle-bustle. We can get more house for our money out here as well. Not to mention that Ryan has many good friends here in Plumas Lake.

• What aspects about the community attracted you here initially? When we decided to move, we chose this area because of the house sizes, the price for rent, and the fact that Ryan already had friends here.

• If you were in charge, what would you change about the Plumas Lake community? The only thing I would change would be the negativity. People are always complaining and saying how horrible it is . . . it's really no different than any other community.

• What are your favorite places to go in Yuba-Sutter/Mid-Valley/Sacramento area? I actually haven't lived here long enough to find a favorite place in the Yuba/Sutter area. Oh wait a minute, I do have two favorite places in Marysville ... Starbucks and Elliott's Photo (the scrapbook store)

• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? You may not consider this famous but I shook hands with Ricky Carmichael (a professional on the motocross circuit).

• If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? I would wish for serenity for eternity.

• Favorite musical group: Buckcherry

• Favorite television show: Just one? Hmmmmm ... I guess that would be "American Idol" right now. David Cook soooooo rocks.

• Favorite sports team: Does (golfer) Ian Poulter count? I love the outrageous clothes he wears.

• Who do you most admire and why? Right now, the person I most admire would be the vice principal of my school. She is a very strong and intelligent woman. She has helped me to improve my teaching skills in many ways this year.

• Tell us about a life-changing experience: Without going into detail ... it was when I realized my life wasn't where I wanted it to be and that I deserved much better.

• What was your first job? I was a clerk for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers when I was 16 years old. My dad worked for them and was stationed in Saudi Arabia. The Corps gave dependents of employees an opportunity to work during the summertime.

• How would you describe yourself? Friendly, good sense of humor, outgoing, creative

• What kind of pets do you have? An old black lab, Shadow, and a creepy lizard named Rex.

• What was your least/favorite subject in school? Most definitely math ... funny, but it's my least favorite to teach as well.

• What are your favorite foods? Too many of them! Most favorites would have to be red licorice, fried rice, and Lays plain potato chips.

• What was the last good book you read? The "Artemis Fowl" series . . . one of my students turned me on to them.

• Favorite movie: "The Christmas Story." I love it when the mom dresses the little brother up in all of his winter clothes. He reminds me of the Michelin Man.
