National Night Out events set
The annual National Night Out observation is coming up on Aug. 5, and for the third consecutive year Plumas Lake will be hosting events in the community for residents to go and spend an evening with family, neighbors and friends.
The event, once again to be held at Bill Pinkerton Memorial Park in south Plumas Lake, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and features lots of food and fun for the whole family.
National Night Out was established 25 years ago, designed as a crime prevention event seeking to heighten crime and drug preventio awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Plumas Lake's event is successful because of those who come out to support it. For the third year in a row, the organizing committee is grateful to DJ Jerry Tatum, owner of Cookie Monster Productions, for donating his time and to the Plumas Lakes Mom's Group for financing and helping to distribute fliers for the event. In addition, such vendors as Plumas Lake Bounce Houses, Mr. Pickles and Coldwell Banker-the Plumas Lake Team are participating.
