What family hasn’t had its share of pizza?

Well now this all-time family favorite meal is available for some without having to leave Plumas Lake and for others available for pick-up at your child’s school. Hometown Guys, a take and bake pizza business in downtown Marysville is making extra strides to bring the convenience of pizza closer to the residents of Plumas Lake.

The company which began when two childhood friends decided to try their hand at a new adventure during their retirement years, Hometown has been serving up take and bake pizzas for a year and a half now. As a way of reaching out to the newest community in Yuba County and providing personal customer service Hometown owners, Rodney Ames and Tommy Cohiles have begun bringing their pizza to Plumas Lake on Thursday and Friday evenings.

“What we enjoy most is meeting new people every day,” said Rodney Ames, partner, Hometown Guys. “We plan to continue this service to Plumas Lake, bringing pizza to them while the weather continues to allow it.”

Ames and his partner have currently arranged space on the corner of River Oaks and Algodon Road from four and six p.m. on those evenings and they bring with them a variety of take and bake pizzas for purchase.

“We have been providing this service for a little over a month now and each week, rain or shine we are selling out and on average between 15 - 20 pizzas,” stated Ames.

And for those customers that want to guarantee their choice of pie will be there when they arrive at the school, Hometown Guys will take preorders from customers at their main restaurant in Marysville and the owners will ensure your pie is made and there for pick-up upon your arrival.

Without any prior business owner experience both Ames and Cohiles have made a real go at their business.

“Our biggest challenge in getting the business off the ground was to do research on what a good pizza really is!” stated Tommy Cohiles, partner, Hometown Guys.

“On the other hand our biggest success has been meeting new people and providing very good products.”

With their current motto of “Take a break from franchise pizza,” Hometown offers ten choices of fresh, great tasting, specialty take and bake pizzas. In addition to their pies they also offer some down home barbecue options including Grilled Tri Tip Beef, Smoked Pork Ribs, Smoked Chicken and Tri Tip and Pulled Pork sandwiches as well as nine specialty hot dogs and sausages.

Not to mention what pizza night would be complete without a salad, Jalapeno poppers, Buffalo wings and breadsticks.

Their investment into the company has been time and money but that hasn’t stopped the owners from maintaining a good price for their products. On average their pizza costs are around $12.00 a pie and they are not currently charging an increased price for those pizzas ordered and picked up in Plumas Lake.

When looking ahead these hometown boys have nothing but positive thoughts.

“For the future, we hope we can continue to provide excellent products and service and to be price competitive for our customers,” continues Cohiles. “Our customers can expect a very friendly, customer service oriented atmosphere, and quality products worth coming back for!”

Hometown Guys is located at 124 East 12th Street in Marysville. For more information or to place an order please contact them at 530-743-7900.
