Awards reward hard work
As the school year came to a close this month for school districts serving Plumas Lake, students were anxious to be done. But for Cobblestone Elementary teachers, it was a time to reflect on the school year and reward their students for a job well done.
As part of their end-of-the-year activities, the school recognized every student for something they had accomplished throughout the year. Some of the top achievements included awards for perfect attendance, achievement in art, outstanding math, excellent reading (ELA) award and outstanding student.
All of the names of the students who had received an award for perfect attendance were put into a drawing, and one boy and one girl were chosen as winners of a bike donated by Horace Mann Insurance.
Even the youngest students were recognized for making academic and personal achievements throughout the year. Some of the kindergartners from Cobblestone were given awards for counting to 100 or knowing their first-grade site words. In addition to the top bike prize, students received summer passes to an open swim at the Gauche Aquatic Park in Yuba City or discounts to Six Flags in Vallejo.
The teachers all took the time to make sure to acknowledge every student and award them for a subject they excelled in or for just being an all-around great helper and friend.
