Stressed out after a long day at work? Thinking about how an hour’s massage at home would be the perfect relaxation tonic?

That option is now available in Plumas Lake.

Christina Thomas, a certified massage therapist, has expanded her business to include in-home therapeutic massages.

“I wanted to help people stay healthy and show them how the benefits of massage therapy could help them do that,” said Thomas.

Thomas’ new business allows individuals to schedule time for her to come directly to their homes to enjoy an hour of massage therapy. Services offered include traditional Swedish massage as well as other modalities upon request.

With over a decade of experience as a therapist, Thomas cites many positive health benefits to regular therapeutic massage, including alleviating tension headaches, muscular back pain, poor circulation, stress and anxiety. She sees massage therapy complementing other therapies such as chiropractic care and psychotherapy.

This is Thomas’ first foray into her business; she’s committed more than $7,000 to get started while continuing to work for Spa Therapy in Yuba City.

“One of the biggest challenges has been building up my clientele,” said Thomas. “My biggest success though is the ongoing support I receive from my faithful and loyal customers.”

By working out of her own home and bringing her services to others, Thomas can offer her therapies at a lower charge than many would pay at a typical day spa. For a traditional Swedish massage, Thomas charges her clients $30 for a half an hour, $50 for an hour.

“I enjoy the convenience of working so close to home,” said Thomas. “In the future, I hope my business will continue to have the reputation of one that helps to improve the health and wellness of others.”
