Free program for female cancer patients
"Look Good, Feel Better," a free program for women undergoing cancer treatments, is offered every other month in Yuba City by the American Cancer Society.
The next session is from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Sutter Medical Foundation, 969 Plumas St., Yuba City. Advance registration is required by calling the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345.
The program, with certified and trained volunteer cosmetologists or estheticians, helps women learn to cope with appearance-related side effects of treatment and regain a sense of self-confidence.
The program is co-sponsored by the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association and the Personal Care Products Council Foundation.

Low-cost prostate screenings set this week
Low-cost prostate cancer screenings are scheduled Wednesday at Sutter Medical Foundation, with urologists Drs. Robert Wright Jr. and Jan Babiszewski.
The screenings are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the office closed from noon to 1 p.m., at 460 Plumas Blvd., Yuba City.
Cost for the service is $15 and includes the lab fee for a prostate specific antigen blood test. Cash and check payments will be accepted at the time of the screening.
Medical insurance billing is not available.
The physician exam is free.

Food as medicine classes set this month
Food medicine and a "return to nature's medicine cabinet" are the topics of two diabetes education classes set at Yuba County Health and Human Services, 5730 Packard Ave., Suite 100, Linda.
The one-hour classes are at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Sept. 21, with family nurse practitioner Meili Hau.

Children's diabetes group sets events
The Yuba-Sutter Children's Type 1 Diabetes Support Group and Resource Center has two events scheduled this month at 990 Klamath Lane, Suite 4, Yuba City.
"Getting to know you ... getting to know each other" is the topic of a meeting at 7 p.m. Friday.
Deep Ginda, a guidance counselor for adults and children, is the featured speaker.
The organization is celebrating its one-year anniversary at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20, presented by the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.
Light refreshments will be served.
