New Yuba recreation programs dive into summer

Swimming lessons began Monday at the Marysville High School pool after open swim periods kicked off over the weekend, the first signs of a new recreation program in Yuba County.

Coordinator Cheyenne Balderama said interest in the swimming lessons was very high, with a number of people enrolled in a second set of lessons that begin June 29.

Baby Boot Camp, a stroller-exercise camp for parents and their infants, will also begin June 29 in Marysville. Balderama said tumbling classes will start up this summer for preschool-age children in Yuba County, based on strong demand in a residents' survey which program coordinators conducted over the last month.

The rec program will eventually have sports camps for older children, she said, and more programs for residents of all ages in the years to come.

"We're really excited to offer these services," Balderama said. "It's good to get some opportunities on this side of the bridge."

Those interested in the programs can sign up at the Yuba County Recreation Office inside the Yuba-Sutter United Way building at 727 D St., Marysville. For more information, call 743-1847.

Have you noticed any delays in mail service with the Olivehurst facility closing?
Yes, it's definitely taking longer.
No, my service is the same.
Hard to say. I don't check the mail every day.
