Charges filed against driver after Sutter deputy killed in crash
The woman behind the wheel in a drunken driving crash that killed a Sutter County sheriff's deputy last month was charged with three felonies Thursday.
Erin Marie Jasper, 26, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on $100,000 bail. She's charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury or death and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or above.
Rory Roguski, a 25-year-old Yuba City resident, died Nov. 7 along Highway 20 near Smartsville.
The off-duty deputy was killed when the car he was riding in slammed into a rock wall.
Jasper, the driver of the car and an Oregon House resident, received several head fractures, ones the California Highway Patrol described as "moderate" injuries.
She was initially arrested after the crash, and again on Thursday.
"It is a potential state prison sentence," Yuba County District Attorney Patrick McGrath said.
McGrath declined to comment on Jasper's blood alcohol level.
