Briefs: Shooting victim's condition upgraded

A Yuba City gunshot victim remained hospitalized Wednesday, but was upgraded to good condition, hospital staff reported.

Eric Baca, 25, has been recovering at Rideout Memorial Hospital since early Saturday when he was shot in the chest during an alcohol-fueled shoot-out in the parking lot of a Bridge Street bar.

A second victim, Michael Ybarra, was treated and released Saturday for gunshot wounds to his arm and foot.

Police said the incident is possibly gang-related, but have been unable to definitively confirm a gang motive, however, as neither victim has cooperated with the investigation and witnesses have also refused to come forward.

Investigators have been asking for the public's assistance to identify the shooters.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660. Callers may remain anonymous.
