Briefs: Yuba County's Brown Bag food sign-ups begin
Sign-ups are being accepted for the 2012 Yuba County Block Grant food giveaway program for low-income families.
Applicants for the Brown Bag program must be residents of Yuba County and must provide proof of residency, picture identification and Social Security cards and proof of income for all household members.
Families with children must have a "Passport for Services" from the county Social Services Department.
Sign-ups are taken 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Food Bank, 760 Stafford Way, Yuba City.
For more information, call 673-3834. The program assisted 484 families in 2011.
LIVE OAK
Encinal School dinner is Feb. 16
Curbside service is part of the 53rd annual Encinal School Spaghetti Dinner planned 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Live Oak Community Building, 10200 O St., Live Oak.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children 2 to 12 years.
Proceeds benefit the school Parents' Club for events and programs including library books, art and Shady Creek.
The event is sponsored by Yuba Sutter Recology and the Parents' Club.
Tickets can be purchased at Encinal Elementary School, 6484 Larkin Road, Live Oak, or call Lisa Torres at 701-6856.

Thrift store seeking donations
The Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue Thrift Shop in Yuba City is asking for donations of gently used items such as collectibles, furniture, clothing and small appliances.
Jewelry and miscellaneous items are also accepted.
Donations can be dropped off 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at the thrift shop, 855 Gray Ave.

All proceeds raised through the thrift shop help find permanent homes for unwanted and abandoned animals.

Seat open onfish, game panel
Applications are available for a position on the Sutter County Fish and Game Advisory Commission, under the direction of the Sutter County Board of Supervisors.
Applicants must be residents of Sutter County District Three.
Forms can be picked up at the office of the clerk of the board, 1160 Civic Center Blvd., Yuba City.
An appointment to the board can be made on Feb. 21 or thereafter.
