Weapons, drugs seized in Linda, Yuba City busts

Drug busts in Linda and Yuba City this week resulted in the seizure of weapons, methamphetamine and marijuana and landed three people behind bars facing possible drug distribution charges.

Torrey Love, 38, of Sacramento, and Citizen M. Gallegos, 23, of Yuba City, were arrested around 7 a.m. Friday by agents from the recently revamped NET-5 drug task force, according to Yuba City police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey.

More than two pounds of marijuana, one ounce of hashish and a half-ounce of methamphetamine were seized at a home in the 1000 block of Courtyard Way, Pavey said.

Pavey declined to provide details leading up to the raid, saying releasing that information could harm the ongoing criminal investigation.

Police said the duo are suspected of selling drugs in south Yuba City neighborhoods.

Love, a parolee, was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale. He is being held without bail. Gallegos was booked on the same charge, police said. Her bail was set at $20,000 and authorities said she bailed out. No court date was available.

A month-long investigation in an unrelated drug case led Yuba County deputies to a west Linda man being arrested this week on suspicion of methamphetamine possession and other charges, just after dropping off his kids at school.

Robert McCommas, 36, was arrested Thursday morning after NET-5 agents stopped him after the drop-off and searched his vehicle and, with a search warrant, his home on the 900 block of Kay Street.

Agents found more than three grams of meth in the vehicle search, an unregistered handgun and about 10 pounds of marijuana at his home, according to a Yuba County Sheriff's Department press release.

McCommas had the marijuana under a legal Proposition 215 prescription, but the investigation determined he had traded some of it for methamphetamine.

McCommas was booked into Yuba County Jail on suspicion of multiple drug charges, possession of a firearm with special circumstances, and child endangerment.
