Man sentenced to 7 years prison in Yuba City vehicle attack

An Elk Grove resident said he was tired of people speeding up and down Second Street in Yuba City, so he got into his car and deliberately ran over a man he said had been driving too fast, authorities said.

Scott John Toth, 39, pleaded guilty in Sutter County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon and hit and run, stemming from the June 2010 incident that left William Zubia with permanent injuries.

Officials said Zubia had driven by Toth’s house twice on the day in question and, after he exited his vehicle, was struck by Toth while standing on a sidewalk.

Prosecutors said Zubia has permanent pins in both legs and one arm as a result of being run down by Toth.

Toth was sentenced Monday in Sutter County Superior Court to seven years in state prison.

Jana McClung, Sutter County’s assistant district attorney, said she wished the sentence could have been longer, but was satisfied with the outcome.
