Briefs: 'Christmas Carol' presentation set at church

Three performances of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday at First United Methodist Church, 3101 Colusa Highway, Yuba City.

The performances are presented by Faith Christian Schools and the FCS Players.

Directed by Lana Dodd and associate director Lindsay Roberts, the performances feature new and original music by Paul DeMeritt.

Tickets are $13 for general admission and $11 for seniors, students and active military.

Theater Gallery to host artists

Four artists will be honored at a reception at the Theater Gallery in Yuba City.

Darlene Cowles will be the featured artist along with jewelry artists Jan Frink, Kathryn Henley and Anita Sterling-Winthrop.

The reception is scheduled from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday at the gallery located at 752 Plumas St., Yuba City.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday.

Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

YUBA-SUTTER

Master Chorale ready for program

"The Joy of Christmas," presented by Yuba Sutter Master Chorale will be dedicated to its founder and music director, the late Joaquina Calvo Johnson, who passed away in August.

Two performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road, Yuba City; and at 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at First Presbyterian Church, Sampson and Rideout Way, Marysville.

The performances are conducted by Kathryn Donovan and include dancers from Jacque's Dance Expression in Yuba City.

Tickets are $10 for general admission at $5 for children under 12. For more information, call the Yuba Sutter Arts Council at 742-2787.
