NFL Contest Gives Kids A Real Kick!
Three Plumas Lake kids moved onto the sectional championships of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick program.
The event is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15 to compete separately against their peers, according to the Web site.
It has competitors punting, passing and kicking a football for distance and accuracy.
The highest combined score wins.
“We wanted an opportunity for kids to participate in a fun and no pressure competition,” said Vance Snyder, the event’s coordinator.
Plumas Lake sent three winners to the sectional competition.
Timothy Snyder, 9, with a total score of 142 feet, 4 inches; Justin Williams, 12, with a total score of 135 feet, 8 inches; and Matt Rice, 14, with a total score of 273 feet all advanced.
“We were pleased that the children came out and gave it their all,” continued Snyder. “Our hope is to host this annually with an even larger turn out each year, but given the late notice and hurdles we had to overcome this year we feel it was a success.”
The events was free to all participants and sponsored by Revolution Financial and the Plumas Lake Youth Sports Association.
