Lil' kickers start off a season of fun!
The new Lil’ Kickers Soccer League started off its season in September.
The league which is sponsored by the Plumas Lake Youth Sports Association (PLYSA) gives children from 3 to 6 years old an early opportunity to learn the team sport.
Most players on all the teams were experiencing soccer for the first time and in many cases it was their first time playing any team sport.
“Our hope is that this will give the kids a chance to just have some fun,” said Monica Kirkpatrick, parent and PLYSA board member.
“We want this to be a great experience for everyone.” While most soccer teams have six players at a time on the field, it was not unusual at any given time for their to be only two or three players on the Lil’s Kickers teams with the tiny tots sometimes wandering outside of the field’s boundaries.
Parents for all six teams came equipped with video and digital cameras in order to catch what was for most their child’s first sports experience.
As children get older, games will become more competitive. But for now, the teams, parents and supporters are having fun
without any real sense of winning or losing.
